Youth action teams

Would you like to make a difference in your local community? Would you like to work with other like minded people? Would you like the chance run projects or raise some well needed funds for local charities?

Vinvolved’s Youth Action Teams are a group of 16-25 yr olds who are interested in making a difference in their local community. They have met together on a monthly basis and have discussed ways they can promote volunteering to their peers. They have also set up and run local projects such as conservation projects, fundraisers and take part in local promotional events.

Over the past 3 years members of the YAT have made a real and noticeable difference in their area. Some of the work they have done include running a large Talent Show raising over £3000 for the Mayor’s Charity Fund in Reigate, building a disability access footpath around Horsell Common, having a promotional stand in Woking Town Centre during national volunteering week and raising over £1,500 with 2 fundraising events, a Santa Cycle and VDay which got BBC Surrey, Eagle Radio and newspaper coverage.

After 1 April 2011 – Youth Councils are set up within many boroughs – and many are always looking for new volunteers!

The Woking Youth Action Team will be joining with Woking Borough Youth Council and the Woking Association of Voluntary Service to continue receiving support for youth involvement after March 31.
