Surrey vinvolved Training

As Surrey vinvolved increases the identification and development of youth-friendly opportunities for young people, it is committed to providing support for organisations who use young volunteers, or who are exploring the opportunity to developing more young people in their voluntary force.

The Surrey vinvolved team provides a series of different training programmes for organisations who may benefit from using youth volunteers by helping them create youth friendly volunteering opportunities and provide supportive volunteering environments for young people. There is provision of training workshops to help develop youth volunteering engagement on different levels, exploring topics such as marketing and advertising, best practice guidelines, policies and procedures, all with supportive documentation and the production of associated hand-outs/best practice material.

During 2008/9, Surrey vinvolved ran 3 successful workshops on the benefits of Youth Volunteering, entitled “Engaging youth volunteers” which addressed issues such as how to attract young people, policies and procedures that are relevant for working with young people, and different marketing techniques to attract youth volunteers. In 2009/10 three half-day training workshops entitled “Planning a project for youth volunteers” were delivered, with the aim to provide information and ideas about how organisations can engage youth volunteers by offering taster projects. If planned well, these can be a very effective means of attracting new volunteers and encouraging them to consider doing more regular volunteering.

Surrey vinvolved not only holds training county-wide, but is available to provide bespoke in-house training for organisations.
