Artistic Volunteers brighten up East Surrey Hospital
Nine talented vinvolved volunteers took part in a high-profile community art project for East Surrey Hospital in August. During two separate three day workshops they designed and painted a series of pictures for display on the corridor and stairway walls of the hospital to cheer up and inspire patients and visitors.
The painting work took place in a courtyard within the hospital, much to the interest of patients, visitors, doctors, nurses and hospital staff alike, many of whom came to see what was going on.
Each completed picture was unique in design and composition and once they were hung, further artwork took place on the walls themselves to add further effect and context.
Such was the impact of this project that the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead was invited to officially launch the new art work at the hospital and this generated much press interest with articles about the wall-art project appearing in the Surrey Mirror and other local papers.
If you are artistic, why not also volunteer your skills in a community art project?
