a portrait of us

Surrey vinvolved is part of the national youth volunteering initiative which was originally conceived by the Russell Commission on Youth Action and Engagement and outlined in its Report dated 16 March, 2005.

Funded with £75 million of government money, the national charity “V” was set up in 2006 to administer the initiative on a national level, and in 2008 teams and projects around the country were selected and funded to engage young people between the ages of 16 and 25, and encourage them to take part in volunteering and community action. Over three years, the scheme aims to encourage up to 500,000 young people across England to help out in and lead their own volunteering projects.

At Surrey vinvolved, youth volunteering is far from boring! In fact, we like to think of doing someone ‘a favour’ with a whole heap of fun thrown into the mix!

When Volunteering through ‘v’ – the national charity for youth volunteering for 16-25 year olds – we make sure that happens, giving young people the chance to get out volunteering with friends, meeting new people, and gaining a whole heap of experience and skills to benefit them for the future!

We work in partnership with Surrey’s Volunteer Centres, organisations and charities to increase the quantity, quality and diversity of youth volunteering. Young volunteers provide unlimited resources, energy, time, enthusiasm and fresh creativity! Having young people volunteering raises an organisation’s profile, as well as builds a culture of youth volunteering in the community. Surrey vinvolved works alongside organisations and volunteers alike to develop creative ways to increase volunteering opportunities, one-off projects and encourages leadership initiatives through youth-let activity.
